Vietnam’s The Grand adds world-class golf to game mix

On Saturday, Vietnam’s Grand Ho Tram Streep Casino Resort added another major attraction to its roster when it opened The Bluffs, a new 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman (pictured right), one of the most famous players in modern professional golf.

Norman from Australia, who opened 87 courses around the world, has 90 professional wins, including two wins at the 1986 and 1993 British Open Championships.

He said at the opening ceremony: “…It’s a very proud golf course because it’s a true Links golf course. Going down the fairway and looking at all the ups and downs and green settings, most of them are exactly the same as the original form [of the land]. So it’s an approach that minimizes distractions as much as possible.”

Stephen Schumaker, president and chief executive of casino property developer Asia Coast Development (Canada), said at a ceremony attended by Vietnamese officials: “We wanted to design a course aimed at customers and guests who will visit the resort to provide a truly unique experience to enjoy golf not just in Asia but around the world.” 바카라사이트

The exact terms of the agreement between ACDL and Florida-based Greg Norman Golf Course Design Co, and the golfer’s sports nickname, Great White Shark Enterprises Inc, were not disclosed.

However, Grand executives confirmed to GGRAsia that the total cost of the golf course plan is around $22 million.

As Schumaker said at the opening ceremony, the value of golf in the gaming industry may be to give wealthy businessmen already playing the sport an additional reason to come to casino hotels.
