Gov. Kathy Hochul Speaks On Downstate Casino

At a recent debate, New York Governor Kathy Hochul had a few words about the state’s soon-to-be-retail casino expansion. 온라인카지노 Earlier this year, the state legislature announced that it would fast track three Downstate gaming licenses. And, Hocheol, a fan of the idea of having more land-based casinos, said she doesn’t like it when it comes to venues.

In early April, Empire State officially included the acceleration of Downstate casino licenses. Previously, there was a moratorium on them until 2023, which was introduced as a way to allow people in Upstate to adapt to the gaming environment. But now, the state wants to create new jobs and provide more revenue. And there are a lot of candidates for those three places.

Many consider Governor Hochul to be the favorite to win the election later this year, and in a recent debate, she expressed her thoughts on expanding the Downstate casino. While she quite likes plans to accelerate the process, she said she did not provide a preferred location for the three available licenses. She also said that the state is currently collecting information and data on the issue.

She explained that she would not point to a particular place, as she tried to leave it up to outside experts to make decisions and review existing places as well. The Democrats reminded them that there are candidates in Queens, West Chester and Nassau to get a license, with a suggestion that they want to have one of the licenses in Manhattan, New York.

As governor, she has made it clear that her task is to remain open about all the aforementioned possibilities and to take her word for it. Her predecessor, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was instrumental in developing the state’s gambling sector, as his cabinet lobbied for the introduction of online sports betting.

This became a reality on January 8, 2022, when four state-approved mobile operators launched a new chapter in the Empire State Gambling Place. The New York State Gaming Commission has acquired a total of nine licenses, and since its inception, the market has generated more than $250 million in tax game revenue from the state budget.

Besides that, state lawmakers are working on more ways to strengthen the Empire State’s gaming sector. State Senator Joe Adabo previously shared plans to add a fixed dividend to horse racing. Adabbo also said it will be committed to introducing online casino gambling in its fiscal 2023-2024 budget.

Bill S8471, which brings in more online sports betting operators, and Bill S8412, which decriminalizes iGaming in the state, were passed by the Racing, Gaming and Gambling Commission. But local racinos are worried that this could lead to potential cannibalism if the state’s iGaming is limited to fully licensed operators. However, the senator explained that this would not be the case, and that the issue would be further analyzed.
