Prepare for 2019 at Shinhwa Resort in Jeju

A self-branded hotel named “Shinhwa Resort” at the Jeju Shinhwa World Casino complex in Jeju, a resort in Korea, is likely to be ready next year, not this year, the site’s promoter, Landing International Development Limited, confirmed to GGRAsia.

The new hotel facilities must obtain permission from local governments to confirm the possibility of moving in, a company official said. The person declined to be named.

The previously announced opening schedule for the Xinhua Resort Hotel was within the quarter. The new hotel is part of Hong Kong-listed Landing International’s plans to phase out non-gaming elements at its Jeju resort.

“We have received a temporary permission to move in for one building at Shinhwa Resort,” a Landing International official said. “The permission for the other two buildings at Shinhwa Resort is expected to come out in the first half of 2019.”

The issuance of occupancy permits will take place “on completion of Jeju’s review of the environmental impact of major development projects on the island,” the official said. “We will wait until all three of the Shinhwa Resort hotels get permission and then open them at once,” the official added.

A representative of the company also mentioned to us that the hotel will cater to family visitors and will have 533 rooms. The hotel will offer a “Shinhwa Water Park” and “easy access” to the resort complex’s theme parks. Shinhwa Water Park is an outdoor entertainment space that opened in early August this year.

According to a 2018 interim report submitted in September by Landing International, the total number of rooms in the entire Jeju Shinhwa World complex will exceed 2,000 once the resort is in operation. By 2020, the group aims to open a four-season resort and spa with about 200 rooms and a theme park called Lionsgate Movie World
