Seoul Samsung officially announced the recruitment of external FA (free agent) Choi Hyun-min and Choi St. Mary’s through a press release on the 20th.
First, Choi has a three-year contract period and 250 million won (222,000 U.S. dollars) in annual pay. Debuted at the Anyang KGC (currently the head of the Anyang KGC) in 2012, Choi has played for Jeonju KCC (currently the Busan KCC), Goyang Orion-Goyang Carrot and Goyang Sono. As a member of Sono last season, he played 18 minutes and 39 seconds on average in 36 regular league games, recording 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
Choi built his new home in Samsung under the terms of a three-year contract period and 210 million won (167,000 dollars) in annual salary. He was called by Wonju Dongbu (currently Wonju DB) as the seventh pick in the first round of the 2016 KBL Rookie Draft. During the 2018-2019 season, he was traded to Busan KT (currently Suwon KT) and played until last season. He recorded 3.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in an average of 11 minutes and 33 seconds in 35 regular season games last season.
Meanwhile, Samsung has also reportedly reached an agreement with Lee Dae-sung. It plans to officially announce the recruitment as soon as the transfer agreement (LC) is issued.
Samsung, which has lost its pride by staying at the bottom of the standings for three consecutive seasons, will be able to seek rebound in this season when it returns with its new members. It makes us wonder what kind of basketball coach Kim Hyo-beom will show.
